What's included with my purchase?

With every Round or Square Hearts & Arrows diamond (Solasfera, Princess of Hearts, Jubilee, Eighternity) we include a 10x loupe and Hearts & Arrows viewer. With every diamond purchase, we supply a 10x loupe. With all diamonds and rings that are purchased from GOG, we supply a full printed appraisal that contains a detailed description of your purchase including digital pictures, all analysis that's featured on the diamonds web page in printed form, the original lab certificate and an appraisal value for insurance purposes with an appraiser's signature on it. You also receive your receipt and with the purchase of a setting you will receive the box of your choice (Teakwood or Dark Blue Leather).

Please note:
Good Old Gold will supply a free appraisal that includes all of the items that are purchased from us. For
an additional fee of $75, items that are not purchased from GOG and are supplied to us by the customer
can be added to the appraisal.

Are your diamond's Kimberly Act compliant and do they come with a Kimberly Act certificate?

We guarantee all our diamonds are conflict free. If a supplier does not sign and is not in accord with the Kimberly process, we simply do not do business with them. At this time, there are no official “Kimberly Certificates”. Genuine provenance reports are traded only on the wholesale level with rough diamonds. Once the rough is purchased and the diamonds are confirmed “clean” these certificates are disposed of. There are companies like Isee2 and Tolkowsky that will provide “Provenance Reports” but these reports are generated in house by these companies, so you are taking those reports at face value for what they are. Since 2004, however every diamond that enters our country is imported under the Patriot Act, which in turn enforces the Kimberly Accord overseas. If you would like to learn more about this, I would suggest that you drop an email to Neil Beatty at www.gemlab.us as he is more intimately familiar with all the details of the Kimberly Accord and has studied the subject more in depth.

The diamond that I'm interested in didn't score well on the HCA, should I look for another diamond with a better score?

I understand that the HCA is a convenient and popular tool to use, however we would never use this tool to eliminate or choose diamonds for our inventory. By only using the HCA tool, we would miss out on a significant amount of rare and beautiful diamonds. The reason why we do not use the HCA tool is because it is only a predictor of light performance. The tools that we use here in our lab like the ASET and DiamXray viewers, take a live analysis of the diamonds, which is far more accurate way to determine the optical performance of a diamond. While the HCA tool does have some positive attributes, the amount of limitations it possesses makes it an inaccurate tool to use for such an important purchase. Please read through this article that Jonathan wrote that explains the HCA fully. A Consumer's Guide to the HCA.

How do I use your "Trade Up Policies"?

Trading up is easy to do. Under the "Lifetime Guarantee" policy you can trade in the diamond you purchased from Good Old Gold and obtain a credit toward another diamond of equal or greater than in value than your original purchase. The new diamond may or may not be covered by our Lifetime Guarantee. If the new diamond is not included in the GOG Lifetime Polices then our policies end with that trade up. Once you trade up for another diamond, there are no refunds and you can only trade up again at that point. You must pay using the same method as the first purchase. If you paid the original order using a bank wire, you must pay again using a bank wire. If you paid using a credit card you must use a credit card again.

All certifications that accompanied the proposed diamond and the receipt must be present in order for us to honor these policies. The diamond cannot be chipped, burned or altered in any way and must be in its original condition in order for us to honor your refund or upgrade. If your trade-in diamond requires a minor re-polishing to bring it back to its original condition, we may still accept it but we will determine through inspection to establish a cost for the re-polishing, a new certification and any loss of points on the diamond weight from the re-polishing. We will also deduct the cost of shipping on the original purchase if it was delivered through the mail. These policies apply only to the person whose name is on the original receipt. We at Good Old Gold reserve the right to reject any buy back or trade up under our discretion based mostly on the above conditions but are not limited to.

If you are sending a diamond back to us click here for the shipping instructions and please contact us beforehand to receive a RA number.

How do I use the "Buy Back" policies?

Using this option is also very easy. To use this policy your diamond must be covered by our Lifetime Guarantee. If it is, we will buy back the diamond that you bought from us for 25% less than what you paid for it. All certifications that accompanied the proposed diamond and this receipt must be present in order for us to honor these policies. The diamond cannot be chipped, burned or altered in any way than from how you received it in order for us to honor your refund or upgrade. If your trade in diamond requires a minor re-polishing to bring it back to its original condition, we may still accept it but we will determine that through inspection and establish a cost for the re-polishing, a new certification and any loss of points on the diamond from the re-polishing that would be lost. These policies apply only to the person whose name is on the original receipt. We at Good Old Gold reserve the right to reject any buy back or trade up under our discretion based mostly on but not limited to the above conditions.

How do I place a diamond on hold with no deposit?

It's easy to do. On the diamonds web page just click on the "Reserve Diamond" button to start the checkout process. Follow the simple directions and fill out your information. When you get to the page for the payment selection, there are four options that you can choose from. If you would like to hold a diamond for 24 hours, select the "Pay in Full with Bank Wire" option.

Do you buy jewelry?

Yes we do. We will buy most jewelry at the current scrap price. Because of the fluctuating metals market our scrap prices change on a daily basis. Depending on the piece of jewelry being sold we may offer you more than the scrap price.  Money from the sale of scrap will be paid by check or can be applied to a purchase.

Can I trade a diamond in that I didn't purchase from you?

As a general answer we would say it depends on the diamond. There are two options that we offer. First, if the diamond is a stone that we are interested in purchasing, after getting some information from you about the diamond, we can make you an offer to purchase it. The second option is that you can leave the diamond/ring with us on consignment and we will try and sell it for you. For details about consigning a diamond or ring please contact us.
