Internal Cut Analysis
I often get asked the question "If the diamond has ideal proportions, shouldn't they all have the same brilliancy, fire & scintillation and or light return?" This diamond clearly answers that question. An appropriate name for this page would be "The importance of the Internal Cut Analysis". First lets get some data on the externals. First the GIA Report.According to the table and total depth measurements it looks as good as any other stone on our website (with the exception of the "very good" symmetry grade). 62.1% total depth with a 57% certainly doesn't raise any red flags. However we cannot base our judgment on this criteria alone. Doing that would be akin to playing Russian roulette with our hard earned money and I don't know about you but I'm not a gambling man. If I'm going to gamble you'll find me in Atlantic City or Vegas. NOT a diamond dealer. ;)
Ok... according to the "current grading standards" all the proportions of this diamond check out to fall within AGS "Ideal" standards and gets a proportion grade of "0". So the GIA reads nice and even it's Sarin/OGI data seem to check out ok. Do we drop the bucks?
Well ... you might BUT NOT ME and neither do my clients. LightScope AnalysisIf you haven't read our page on this technology then you MUST. We feature this analysis on all our stones and it is KEY to understanding how this diamond will perform in both direct light and diffuse light conditions. That page is you can access by clicking on this graphic. The analysis shows a lot of pale reds around the perimeter indicated by the red arrows. Pale reds = weak light return. Blatant leakage under the table combined with weak leakage as well as indicated by the yellow arrows. And most of all the serious lack of black in both the arrows and also between the arrows. BLACKS are the sources of the most intense light return within the diamond.
The dark reds are a good thing but with the lack of black and the amount of leakage and weak light return ... well ... let's pass on this one. ;) BrillianceScope results confirm the interpretation.
