Flawless diamonds have no internal or external imperfections. They are as the term describes, flawless. Diamonds that are absolutely flawless are so rare that most price reports do not even contain a listing for them.  On the link below is an example of a Flawless diamond and pictures taken of it under a 10x ~ 63x gemological microscope under darkfield illumination.  Flawless and internally flawless diamonds can be among the most boring to look at under the microscope since there's nothing really to show you. :)  After viewing the diamonds click the "back" button on your browser to bring you back to this page.

IF - Internally Flawless

Internally flawless diamonds will only have minute external imperfections, but usually something that is so small that it would be flawless after a minor repolishing.  Here are 2 examples of diamonds that have attained the IF grading. The inclusions are so minor that are virtually impossible to capture on film under the microscope.
