 Hearts & Arrows Tutorial

AGS "0" Hearts and Arrows

Which would you rather have?

Ok, so you've been unplugged from the Matrix and you are now seeing things for what they really are  (If you haven't seen that movie you won't know what I'm talking about).  You've been so enlightened as to cut quality, to the point where sadly, most "salesclerks" won't even have the faintest idea of what you're talking about.    Well, there are some cutters who will go the extra mile to make an AGS "0" exhibit a natural phenomena which can be viewed through something called a fantasy scope or Hearts & Arrows viewer.  The phenomena is perfectly formed arrows when viewing a diamond through it's crown in the fantasy scope and perfectly formed hearts when viewing the stone through it's pavilion.  Here's what a fantasy scope (or hearts and arrows viewer) looks like.

The diamond about to be viewed is an AGS "0" cut. Is it a hearts and arrows?  Only this viewer can tell you for sure. Here's what the pattern looks like when viewed through the crown and the pavilion.

Note how perfectly all the arrows and all the hearts are formed.  How they are all symmetrically the same.  You can only get this with perfect proportions and perfect symmetry.  There may be times in various stones you can get some kind of a pattern going on but not like this.  For your convenience I've scanned in a brochure we've had printed out on the subject.  Here it is page for page.

Cool huh!?  Gotta tell ya ... I LOVE THESE STONES!  These diamonds are such a rarity in cut quality that they represent less than 1% of the diamonds on today's market.  They exhibit intense fire and overall brilliancy that are unmatched by most diamonds on the market.  Under direct light conditions such as the sun or halogen lights you can expect to see intense flashes such as the diamonds below.

It is true that there are even non ideals that can give such intense light return as well but these are far and few.  Another feature about diamonds cut to this level of precision that can be appreciated as well which you can not get in any other kind of diamonds is the beauty that is to be observed not only in direct light but also diffuse light as well.  The two most common light conditions that we humans observe diamonds under is direct and diffuse light.  In diffuse light conditions (such as an overcast day or regular office lighting) the perfect symmetry in these diamonds are something to behold WITH THE EYES.  Yes ... your lady (and of course you) can witness the beauty of the perfect proportions and symmetry in these diamonds without a special viewer (although the viewer enhances the image).  To get an idea of what I'm talking about I've been able to capture for you what this looks like in this pic.

This is a typical rare H&A diamond like we feature on our website vs what is commonly purchased. Note the drastic difference in appearance.  One has beautiful uniform 3 dimensional symmetry, one is chaotic.

Just like anything else in life.  The more you look at something ... the more you wear it ... the more she gazes into it (and believe me she will) the more familiar you become with it.  We can say that for anything in life.  The same goes with diamonds.  The more she becomes familiar with this standard of excellence, the better she (and you) will become at being able to tell the duds from the winners.  Unfortunately these exceptional beauties represent a very small percentage of diamonds on the market and are IMO one of the most beautiful diamonds you can put on her finger.
